    Topic 0819 Harsh Slogans?

To prevent drunk driving, one local place in China introduced slogans: "the hospital has saved a bed for you, drunk driver" and "drunk driving is a choice of death and the tomb." Do you think the slogans are too harsh? What are the slogans that work effectively in your country?

Although the slogan has some effect on prevention of drunk drive,I don't think it is the suitable way to show the slogan. If I were the driver,I don't like the way of expression. The best way to prevent drunk drive is not the harsh slogan, but all the drivers do some practical actions, besides, our police should check the driver on the road regularly.

Every driver knows drunk drive is dangerous and is forbidden by government, but why a lot of drivers still drive after drink ? If we do not know

the real reason here, it is not easy to stop this. The slogans, of course, useless for those drivers.

    Re: Topic 0819 Harsh Slogans?

I think that all slogans are meant to be a plus to the more effective prevention measures such as increased police presence on the roads. The fact that these slogans were put in a bar is appropriate since they are addressed to drinkers though experience has shown that drunks don't take heed and might even make fun of the same slogans when drunk! In my country we have slogans such as 'dont drink and drive';if you drive ,drink milk;'heroes take a taxi after drinking';hospital beds are meant for the sick, not drunks' etc. Obviously these are subtle compared to the above (in Chinese bars )but are meant for the general public since going a bit towards that extreme direction(Chinese bars) in public might result in being sued in court by alcohol manufacturers.

Good slogans, The impact on viewers it's strong, but the prevention of drunk driving will perfect. Here in Europe, some slogans have not a real impact on viewers, because are not harsh, not strong, not intelligent.

Drinking is a psychological problem and it should be dealt as a sickness and

it is also a social problem. If people treat those who drink unfriendly and make them feel uncomfortable

then it could effect their behavior,at least in public places.

Besides that the law has to be very severe towards drunken driving, because

it could take lives, not only their own ,bt even the others too and

drinking could be a cultural matter too,so the government should try to correct this culture or improve it and

last but  not least, the government should put a very heavy tax on alcohol and a heavy fine for drunk driving.

Adjusting up the price or tax of the drinks will help, by the way ,the law isn't severe enough to punish  these seeking-for-death activities.

The harsh slogans are positive approaches,in my estimation, the stronger and harsher the slogens are ,the more effective they 'll be. That' can explain why they print repulsive lungs pictures due to smoking and corpses on the package of cigarettes.
