Apart from sentisitive religious contexts it should be seriously taken into account what Total CEO warns against Iran  petroleum sanctions. As far as I know French Total and Norwegian Statoil Hydro are the only western partners of Gazprom around vast Shtokman fields. Acording to information from Finnish sources bringing that gas to European markets may, because of technical reasons, be much more difficult than was originally thought. At least it takes more time than was originally thought.
